ABOUT THE AREA

Sneads Ferry, North Carolina is a quiet fishing village located on the banks of the New River. (Latitude: 34.55 N,Longitude: 77.39). The New River joins
the Intracoastal Waterway at Sneads Ferry with immediate access to the Atlantic Ocean.

In 1759 two ferries operated here, one from each bank of New River. Robert Snead was the proprietor of the ferry on the north shore, and the community that developed on the banks of the crossing site became known as "Sneads Ferry." Dedicated men such as Caroline Pearson
propelled the ferry until it was replaced with a bridge in 1939.

Today Sneads Ferry is a haven for boaters, anglers, seafood lovers and anyone eager
to relax and take advantage of the “phenominal water views!”
